The Essences

Our essences are completely natural, botanical, and reverently hydrodistilled from biodynamic, wild-crafted, and certified organic plants. Hydrodistillation is a gentle immersion method that captures the complete aromatic profile of a plant, including the fine aroma chemicals that cannot be captured with steam distillation. With the exception of organic honeycomb, we do not use essences from animals. We never use synthetic aromas, perfume flavorings, or isolates. All raw materials are sourced or made by our master distiller and approved by botanical perfumer and founder Alexandra Balahoutis. The only way to know what you are buying is to know who you are buying it from. We purchase our essential oils directly from distillers we trust.

Our Alcohol

Certified organic grape alcohol is the base of our botanical perfumes. It is made in small batches with organic grapes grown and triple distilled in the south of France. This elevated perfumers’ alcohol supports the integrity of our hydro-distilled essences, and has a soft, pleasing aroma that adds to the redolence of our perfumes.

Our Process

Beginning with whatever inspires her, botanical perfumer Alexandra Balahoutis formulates each fragrance within our palette of certified organic, wildcrafted, biodynamic, and hydro-distilled essences. Small batches are then hand-blended, set into a base of organic grape alcohol, and aged for a minimum of six months. All Strange Invisible Perfumes are completely botanical and unfiltered. They are blended, decanted and bottled in-house.

The Boutique

Strange Invisible Perfumes is a jewel-like perfumery set in the bohemian chic culture of Venice’s Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Like the perfumes themselves, the boutique’s beckoning atmosphere brings the romance of old world perfumery into an entirely modern context. Discover botanical perfumer Alexandra Balahoutis’ narrative collection of, what Harper’s Bazaar calls, “quietly sexy potions.” All of the fragrances are crafted in-house from purely organic, wildcrafted, biodynamic, and hydro-distilled essences. The boutique also stocks authentically pure apothecary products discerningly curated by the perfumer herself.
